Health insurance abroad with CORIS assistance
We are traveling abroad more and more often, both for business and pleasure. Medical expenses abroad can be very high, so it is important to take out health insurance abroad with CORIS assistance before traveling abroad, which will provide us with adequate financial security and assistance in the event of an accident or illness abroad.
NEW:
Covid coverage is included in the insurance
From January 28, 2021 onwards, coverage for Covid-19 is provided on all existing and newly concluded insurance policies. If you fall ill with the new coronavirus while abroad, your insurance covers:
- healthcare costs in exactly the same way as for any other illness (doctor's appointment, medication, hospitalization),
- the cost of a test ordered by a doctor, regardless of the result. Preventive tests at the airport upon return home, however, are not covered, regardless of the result, as the passenger knows before traveling abroad that they will have to take the test. However, all further costs are covered if the preventive test is positive.
- quarantine/self-isolation costs (for insured persons who test positive/for their family members or travel companions if they have been ordered to self-isolate and have our insurance),
the costs of rebooking your flight ticket and transport to your home country (if your treatment or self-isolation ends after the date originally planned for your return home, we will also cover - costs of changing an airline ticket. Since airline tickets are often flexible these days, the insured person should first check with the airline to see if a free flight change is possible. If the change to the airline ticket incurs costs that are not covered by the airline, we will pay them, but the insured person must first send us the airline's response.
IMPORTANT: Covid coverage is included on all trips abroad that are no longer than 90 consecutive days.

Health insurance abroad with assistance ensures you a safe stay abroad. Depending on the length of your trip, you can choose from the following types of insurance:
– continuous travel periods from 1 day to one year, or
– for year-round insurance with multiple trips abroad, provided that each stay abroad does not exceed 90 days.
The premium depends on the selected insurance coverage (basic, double, triple), the duration of the trip, the type of contract (individual, family, or group), and any recreational or active sports activities (a premium surcharge is determined). Businesspeople can also be insured according to the price list for individuals.
– Year-round family insurance (multiple trips up to 90 days in a single year)
*In family insurance, the insured persons are those listed on the policy who live in the same household and are related to each other: spouses or partners from other legally recognized communities and their children, stepchildren, or adopted children up to the age of 26.
With year-round family insurance, the policy applies to all family members, and each member can also travel individually. The insurance applies to an unlimited number of trips abroad in one insurance year, provided that each stay abroad does not exceed 90 days.
– Annual individual insurance (multiple trips up to 90 days in one year)
The insurance is intended for individuals who travel abroad several times a year, with each stay abroad lasting no longer than 90 days. The insurance is also intended for businesspeople who frequently travel abroad on business and for family members of businesspeople.
– Insurance for pupils and students studying abroad
This insurance is intended for students studying abroad. The insurance can be taken out for a period of 90 days to one year. In order to take out this type of insurance, in addition to basic information, you must also submit a certificate of enrollment issued by a foreign university, faculty, or school. With appropriate proof, pupils and students are granted a special discount of 10% only for insurance periods of up to 90 days, up to 180 days, and one year.
– Employee insurance
The insurance is intended for companies that wish to insure their employees for the duration of their work and stay abroad. The insurance can be taken out for a full-year stay abroad or for multiple trips abroad within a single year, provided that each individual stay abroad does not exceed 90 days. The insurance can be taken out individually for one employee or as a group policy (for two or more persons).
– Insurance for foreigners
Insurance for foreigners is intended for persons coming to Slovenia from other countries. They can take out insurance for their stay (if they are visiting) or for their stay and work (if they are coming for employment). The insurance is valid in Slovenia and in countries bordering Slovenia, provided that the latter is not the insured person's country of permanent residence.
- Insurance must be taken out while the insured person is in the Republic of Slovenia. If the insured person takes out insurance from abroad, the insurance does not cover injuries on the first day and illnesses for the first three days.
- Coverage for bone fractures – if the insured person pays an additional premium for bone fractures, the insurance company will pay the compensation specified in the table in cases where the insured person suffers a bone fracture while staying abroad. Coverage is limited to one (1) fracture during the term of the insurance. If the insured person suffers multiple fractures at the same time, the maximum amount paid by the insurance company is €500.
Below is some basic information on what to do if you are injured or fall ill while abroad.
In the event of lower costs, we advise you to pay the bills, keep them, and contact us for reimbursement upon your return home. The amount is not fixed and is left to the individual. Some will pay €50, others €200, and still others even more. It is important that you keep all original invoices, reports, and diagnoses you receive from your doctor. This is the fastest way.
Otherwise, if you do not know where to find a doctor, do not have transportation to a doctor, only need information, the costs are higher, you are hospitalized, or simply do not want to pay even lower amounts, in such cases, call us as soon as possible at +386 1 519 20 20. Tell us where you are, what problems you are having, and what kind of help you need. We will contact the CORIS representative in the country where you are located or contact the hospital directly to get things moving (we will make an appointment with a doctor, arrange emergency or taxi transport, cover the costs directly, and, if necessary, arrange your return home). Since there is a specific procedure in such cases, we advise you to pay smaller amounts yourself so that you do not have to wait an hour for a cost of €50 (example).
In the event of theft/loss/delay of luggage, flight delay/cancellation, it is important to notify the local authorities (police station, airline/carrier, etc.) as soon as possible, within 24 hours at the latest, and obtain an official certificate/report of the incident – compensation will be settled subsequently, after your return home and upon submission of all documentation, including original receipts that are subject to reimbursement (hotel, taxi, food and drink, emergency replacement clothing, medicines, personal hygiene cosmetics, etc.).
When it comes to legal proceedings (civil liability, legal aid, bail), it is particularly important that you do not admit/sign any liability on your own. This is resolved/determined subsequently after obtaining all documentation related to the individual event.
Costs of emergency telephone calls to the number +386 1 519 20 20 we will reimburse you (based on your operator's statement), so you can also call from your mobile phone. You can also make a collect call at our expense.
