Risk of cancellation
If your vacation falls through
Let's make canceling your trip stress-free and risk-free!
Tourist trips, vacations, getaways, excursions, concerts, business trips, trade fairs, congresses... these are all wonderful and joyful events that make up an album of pleasant memories in life. However, life is also full of surprises and unpredictable events that can turn even the most carefully planned vacation or trip abroad into a disappointment. Unexpected illness, accidents, job loss, property damage, lack of snow, or any other unexpected event can prevent us from going on a trip, making it impossible for us to take the trip we wanted.
We advise you to plan ahead when organizing your trip so that you can resolve any potential issues with as little hassle as possible. To make planning and anticipating your trip easier and safer, we have prepared travel cancellation insurance for you.
What does the insurance cover?
Sava Insurance's travel cancellation insurance covers the costs of canceling tourist trips, airline tickets, ship transport, excursions, tickets for music, cultural, sporting, and other events, vehicle and boat rentals, and other tourist experiences that the purchaser of the tourist service must reimburse the organizer when one of the events that prevents them from participating in the trip occurs. The insurance also covers the costs of cancellation by other passengers on the tourist trip who have taken out insurance together with the affected person and have canceled the trip.
Insurance of your choice
We have prepared two types of coverage (basic and extended) that include unexpected events and dangers that may occur and prevent you from going on your trip. This allows you to choose the scope of coverage yourself.
How to obtain insurance?
You can take out travel cancellation insurance at the travel agency where you booked your travel package, airline ticket, ship transport, excursion, etc., and with which Zavarovalnica Sava has a mutual cooperation agreement. Upon conclusion of the travel contract or no later than 48 hours after conclusion of the travel contract, insurance can be taken out up to three days before departure. If there are more than 60 days until departure, you can also take out insurance if more than 48 hours have passed since the conclusion of the travel contract, but in the first 10 days after taking out the insurance, coverage will only apply in the event of death and accident, and after 10 days you will again have full coverage until departure. If there are less than 60 days until departure, you can only take out insurance within 48 hours of concluding the travel contract. The premium for travel cancellation insurance is paid to the travel agency when the insurance is taken out.
Duration of insurance
The insurance is valid until departure.
What to do in case of damage?
If you are affected by one of the reasons listed above, which prevented you from going on your trip, immediately notify the travel agency where you booked your trip. Provide the travel agency with a credible certificate from the competent institution, which proves the reason for your cancellation. The travel agency will file a claim for compensation on your behalf.
Coronavirus warning and cancellation insurance:
Due to the long-standing and rapidly growing spread of coronavirus, which has led to an epidemic in Slovenia, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has even declared a global pandemic, the insurance company has been forced to intervene in the content of travel cancellation risk insurance coverage, more specifically in the form of so-called extended coverage of the aforementioned insurance. This means that insurance policies taken out from March 13, 2020, onwards will exclude reimbursement of travel cancellation costs incurred as a result of an epidemic and/or pandemic related to the emergence of the "coronavirus" or the disease "COVID-19." All other coverages, both those offered by basic coverage and those offered by extended coverage, remain unchanged, i.e., insurance can be taken out as normal in this regard.
